Get the Right Size Can Liner
Bag Width: Use one-half of the outer circumference of the container. Bag Length: Use the height of the container, plus one-half of the diameter of the container bottom, plus 3 inches (for overhand).  For square or rectangular containers, use the diagonal of the container bottom rather than the diameter.

If you have a bag and are not sure of the size, unfold and open up the bag.  Measure the diameter of the bag opening for the width, and then measure the length.

 
What Gauge Liner is Right For You?

Gauge: Term used to describe a liner's thickness.  Low density liners are measured in mils.  High density liners are usually measured in microns.
Mil: Common low density liner thicknesses range from .35 to 4 mil. 
Micron: Common high density liner thicknesses range between 6 and 24 microns.

High Density Bag: Recommended for paper and liquid material under moderate transport conditions. Excellent resistance to puncture and moderate resistance to tearing.  Great for cost saving.

Low Density Bag:  Recommended for paper and non-sharp materials under rough transport conditions.  Excellent resistance to puncture and tearing.

A liner too thick wastes money.
A liner too thin increases bag usage and costs.
